Red tape stalls Shared Education

Some schools in Fermanagh and other areas have been left very disappointed by the failure of the education system to make decisions on funding applications submitted by schools in December 2014 and May 2015.

A number of parents have contacted the Rural Centre for Shared Education outlining their disappointment at their children not having the opportunity to engage in Shared Education this year, due to red tape and bureaucracy within the education system.

One principal in their school newsletter this week raised their “dismay” at the failure of the Education infrastructure in Northern Ireland.

From the Rural Centre for Shared Education’s viewpoint it is clear many schools embrace shared education – it is up to the Education Authority and Department of Education to resolve these issues before another academic year is lost.
